Comments for the purposes of Report Cards should always be entered the following way:
Entering Comments
- Select the class you wish to enter comments for using the top class selection drop down.
Special note for Standards Based Report Card Classroom Teachers - you will enter all comments in the Homeroom class! - Double and triple check that the term in the top right corner is the correct term you wish to enter comments for!
-
To enter your comments, you can use either:
- the scoresheet at Grading > Scoresheet
- the Comment Verification screen at Grading > Comment Verification.
-
If using the Scoresheet: Click on the Term Grade column - it's the column to the immediate right of the student's name.
If using the Comment Verification: Click on the row of the student you wish to edit. - The Grade and Comment panel should appear on the right.
- Use the small comment box on the panel that opens up to enter your comment - or - click the Comment bubble in the top right corner - this opens up a much larger comment box and gives you access to your school's Comment Bank.
- Comments can consist of a narrative you write, comments from the Comment Bank, or a mix of both. You don't need to do anything special depending on what you would like to do. Simple start typing in the box your comments and selecting comments from the Comment Bank. Each comment selected will, by default, be entered on a new line.
- Be sure to click the green Save button at the bottom when you are done adding Comments to a class.
Using the Comment Bank
- To access the comment bank, go to enter a comment for any student and select the Term Grade cell to the right of their name. Then select the Comment bubble in the top right corner. Click the Comment Bank button that now appears in the right panel.
- The comment bank has been pre-loaded with the comments defined by your colleagues during the initial setup of the gradebook.
- You can change how many rows show up at once by entering a new Rows/Page value and hitting Enter. For example, entering 50 and hitting Enter will show up to 50 comments at a time - but you may need to scroll!
- You click click the Star to the right of the comments to mark those as your favorites. The next time you open the Comment Bank the starred comments will appear at the top.
- Use the checkboxes on the left to select one or many comments to add to the student selected. By default comments are separated by line breaks.
- Click Insert Comments once done and the comments will be copied to the comment box.
